Wedding Insurance and Weekday Weddings

Most weddings take place on a Saturday. But if you want to save some cash, you could think about getting married on another day of the week. Weekday weddings are becoming increasingly popular as couples need to stick to their budget and strike good deals with their suppliers.

Before you pay a deposit for any part of your wedding, it’s a good idea to get your Wedding Insurance sorted out. A wedding insurance policy should cover you if any of your suppliers let you down on the big day – for example if the company running your venue goes out of business or your florist goes into liquidation. Of course, it could still be hard to find a replacement but at least your hard-earned cash will be covered.

Although getting married on a weekday might help you negotiate a better price for your venue and services. check that it’s OK with your guests before you book anything. Ask around close family and friends to make sure they’d be willing to attend your wedding on a Thursday, or be able to take a Friday off work, for example.

A weekday wedding might even be better for your guests, as travel and hotel prices tend to be cheaper off-peak. So it could make the difference between them getting a cheap flight or staying in a better hotel on your wedding night.

If you’re willing to be flexible about which day you get married on, you might be able to get a good deal from the venue. Popular places can get booked up a year or more in advance if you’re looking for a summer Saturday afternoon, but a winter Monday might be available – and at a much better price. Ask whether the venue will throw in any extras such as bottles of wine or a discount on accommodation for guests in return for a guaranteed weekday booking. But do check what else is booked at the venue on the same day before you pay your deposit, or you may be at risk of sharing your big day with a sales conference that could turn rowdy in the evening.

Suppliers and services such as florists, photographers and car companies can also charge a premium at weekends, so ask them if they might be able to strike a good deal when business is quieter in the week. Similarly, a DJ or band who might be in demand on a Saturday night may be glad of a gig on a weeknight, so you could negotiate a more reasonable price.
